Cash and Prizes on Offer

Venue:         All areas of the Merimbula Lake under tidal influence and upstream of the coastal bar.

 

Cost:           $50 per team consisting of 2 anglers per boat. Additional anglers are $25 per person. Fees are to be paid prior to briefing.

 

Species:       Dusky Flathead – Full Catch, Photograph and Release Only.

 

Briefing:       Merimbula Big Game and Lakes Angling Clubrooms at Spencer Park Merimbula, Friday April 1st , 2011 at 7:30pm.

This fishing competition is open to all anglers holding a current NSW Fishing Licence, or are exempt from holding a licence.

 

MBG&LAC DUSKY DASH FOR CASH RULES

 

In all cases the decision of the tournament committee is final, and no correspondence can or will be entered into.

 

All anglers participate in this event at their own risk, and each angler agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified the Merimbula Big Game and Lakes Angling Club Inc. and its members from all liability however so arisen in accordance with this event.

 

Fishing Areas

The Merimbula Lake upstream areas from the coastal bar that are influenced by tidal movement.

Minimum Team Numbers

Teams must consist of at least two anglers per boat. No angler is able to travel on any boat, unless the angler is registered in the competition.

Fishing Times

Fishing activity can commence at 6am, and must cease by 3.30pm. No fish caught outside these times will be eligible for prizes. The decision of the tournament committee is final.

Additional Anglers/Observers

All persons on the boat teams competing in the Dusky Dash for Cash MUST be financial entrants. Additional persons, at the discretion of the committee, may result in disqualification from the tournament.

Fishing Methods

Fish must be caught via rod and reel, and within NSW Fisheries regulations. The MBGLAC requests that all anglers comply with fisheries regulations, and good fishing practices to ensure eligibility for prizes

Attendance at the Tournament Briefing

Attendance at the tournament briefing is required by at least one member per fishing team. It is the responsibility of this team member to ensure that the other team members are aware of the tournament rules.

Tournament Prizes

Longest - $500 Cash

2nd Longest – Eva Kool Ice Box or similar from Merimbula Outboard Service

3rd Longest –Rod and Reel Combo.

Release of Fish

All fish must be released alive to be eligible for prizes. The tournament will allow digital photos of fish on the NSW Fisheries Tournament brag mat. The tournament token must be visible on the photo.

Prize Money Adjustments

In the event that there are less than 15 teams in the event, the prize money will be adjusted down on a pro-rata basis. If over 40 teams enter, the cash prizes will be DOUBLED.

Adjustments to Length Via Digital Photos

The acceptance of a digital photo for prizes will be at the discretion of the Committee. Deductions from the apparent length will be made in circumstances where the photo does not appear to represent the true length of the fish. The decision of the committee is final.

Fish Measurement

Prizes are based on the length of the fish measured from the tip of the nose to the end of the tail.

Minimum Lengths

No fish will be eligible for tournament prizes unless it meets the minimum legal length requirements for a captured fish as set out by NSW Fisheries regulations.

Official Measuring Station

The MBG&LAC clubrooms are the official fish measurement station. All fish and or photographs MUST be at the clubrooms by 4:00pm on the day of competition to be eligible for tournament prizes.

Presentation

The presentation will held at the MBGLAC clubrooms at Spencer Park at 4:30pm on Sunday March 15th Anglers must be present to claim their prizes.

Sale of Fish

The sale of fish is prohibited by NSW law, and anglers are encouraged to take only the fish they need. Unwanted fish should be returned to the water immediately.

Fishing Etiquette

All teams must respect the space of other boats, and not come within 30 metres of each other whilst fishing. Boats in disregard of this requirement may face disqualification from the event.

ANY STATED OR ADDITIONAL PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE.
